are reportedly questioning 15 people in connection with the killing of a new york city woman there. our chief foreign correspondent is live in istanbul. >>> what police are saying is the 33-year-old won sarai sierra came for a two-week holiday. it was her first trip outside the united states. she was supposed to come with a girlfriend. the girlfriend backed out. during the trip she was in regular contact with her family. no indication that anything was going wrong. then on january 21st, the day she was supposed to be leaving, she disappeared. she never arrived at the airport. her rented apartment where she was staying here still had her things in it. a closed-circuit television camera showed her walking alone. and then she was gone for two weeks. no one had any idea what happened to her. last night police found her body dumped here the palace very close to the ramparts of the old city. police say she died from a blunt force trauma to the head. family members are trying to find answers, trying to find out what happened to her. they have not spoken to the media. we are told they are too emotion

the new details as they come into us here at cnn. >>> now, let's take you to midland city, alabama, where a desperate standoff is entering its sixth day. police are keeping in contact with jimmy lee dykes. he abducted a 5-year-old last week. victor, good morning. we have heard that dykes is allowing the thing of delivery of toys and food and medicine. do we know how they're getting it to him? >> randi, good morning. we don't know how that's being given to ethan and jimmy lee dykes. that's one of the questions we asked. we asked how that happened and one of the questions we asked, that was not answered. authorities here keeping a lot of the details to themselves because they do not want to agitate, as they tell us, jimmy lee dykes. the most recent communication that we had with authorities is that they say the line of communication is open both with jimmy lee dykes and they're ready to speak with him, as they say, whenever he's ready to talk. also with the parents of this 5-year-old boy ethan. they are getting updates every hour on the hour and we also heard from a woman named michelle ril

mild autism as well. gabe gutierrez joins us from midland city, alabama. gabe, we know authorities have been talking to dykes through that pvc pipe of some sort. do we know whether he's asking for anything? >> reporter: craig, we've been following this story for days. police are very tightlipped about what their communication with dykes involves. we don't know if he's making any demeans, but yesterday we did hear from the sheriff and saw some signs of how sensitive these negotiations have become. the shefb thariff thavsnked the for taking care of our child. law enforcement authorities may believe that the suspect has access to television in the bunker. he has an electric heater, blankets and treating the child relatively well and the child so far was not physically harmed, but not many details on the nature of the negotiations. this has been going on for more than 118 hours, since tuesday afternoon, when police say that suspect, jimmy lee dykes boarded that school bus, demanded two children and shot and killed the bus driver and took off with 5-year-old ethan according to police. they h

this boy out. abc's gio benitez is in midland city, alabama, again tonight. >> reporter: five days into this dramatic standoff, we're learning that hostage-taker jimmy lee dykes has been in constant contact with negotiators. letting them send things to that little boy held hostage, 5-year-old ethan. through a pipe leading to the underground bunker. >> he's also allowed us to provide coloring books, medication, toys. and i want to thank him for taking care of our child. that's very important. >> reporter: it's unclear what kind of medication, but the boy reportedly has adhd and a form of autism. police don't think that dykes has physically harmed the boy. but we know that he has been crying. the bunker has an electric heater. but below the surface, there are near-freezing temperatures. we have learned in a bizarre twist that dykes has questioned that a reporter be sent into the bunker to speak to him. last tuesday, it was just like any other school day. little ethan was sitting in his favorite seat in the front of the bus. >> i looked up. he was threatening to kill us all. he said,

continues for family, friends and the entire community of midland city, worried about the fate of a 5-year-old boy held hostage in an underground bunker. police say they are in constant communication with jim dykes. the man they say killed a school bus driver tuesday afternoon, then took the boy inside a bunker on his property. police are talking to dykes through a ventilation pipe and say they don't think the boy has been harmed. george howell joins us. tell us what people are saying. what's going on there? >> reporter: don, you know this community is just waiting hour by hour. there was a vigil earlier. everyone is just hoping that this situation comes to a peaceful resolution. there was supposed to be a news conference here right now, but that was canceled. we did, though, get some new information from the sheriff earlier today. he gave us some insight into exactly how mr. dykes is treating this young boy. first of all, we know that mr. dykes has an electric heater and blankets. that is good news, obviously underground in this bunker, it's cold, a constant 50 degrees. so investigators s
